Description
Originally released in the 70’s, the API 525A is a “feedback” type compressor. An input (threshold) control and output (make-up gain) control are provided, along with an additional “Ceiling” fine-tune function which can increase gain reduction (lower threshold) while simultaneously raising output level to match, so the user can alter dynamics “on the fly” without level changes. the new 525A maintains the discrete audio path and expands the feature set for even more applications in the modern studio. It artfully combines API’s proprietary transformers, 2510 and 2520 opamps, retaining the sonic characteristics of the original while exhibiting the reliability, long life, and uniformity which is characteristic of all API products.
While preserving the classic sonic warmth and character of the original, the API 525A’s modernised features and sturdy construction make it suitable for a wide range of audio processing needs in professional studio environments. Its enhanced design guarantees seamless integration into contemporary workflows.
